Headteacher Message

Good afternoon all,

I hope you are all well.  It has been a frantic but fun Friday here.  We are a few members of staff down, and I feel like my feet have not touched the ground.  What is amazing is our staff team.  The way they fill gaps even before being asked, their flexibility and their unswerving commitment towards your lovely children.  I am going to watch my childhood football team QPR play tonight, and they are currently doing rather well.  By all accounts this is because there is a lack of ego, and they are playing for each other.  This is what it feels like working here and that is why, even in the most challenging times, this is an inspiring place to work.

We had a meet the teacher week this week, and it was well attended.  As a working parent of three I know how difficult it is to get time off work and many of you will have been unable to make it.  We have been updating our website recently, and you are able to meet your child’s class teacher and see your child’s learning environment.

https://www.darell.richmond.sch.uk/classes

You could actually send this link to relatives and friends both local and from around the world.  Share with them who is teaching your child and what a great school they attend.

It is so important that you feel part of your child’s journey through the school and I hope this helps in some way.  For any new parents it is important to also let you know that as a school we pride ourselves on being contactable.  Please do not hesitate to call or come and see me or anyone else if you feel the need.  You will be welcomed whatever the context.

Right, I better be off as I have a team to support. Watching my team with my son and my closest friends under the floodlights! What a lovely start to the weekend. I hope you have a great one, too.

Office Updates

School Office Opening Times

Due to busy lunch times we cannot guarantee a member of staff will be on the front desk at all times. Therefore, we have made the decision to close the school office between 12:00 and 13:00 each day. We aim to respond to any telephone messages left within this time by 14:00. We thank you for your support, as always.

Relaxation Activity:

Lazy Cat

This exercise helps to release tension in the muscles. Pretend that you are a lazy cat that has just woken up from a lovely, long nap.

  • Have a big yawn.
  • And a meow!
  • Now, stretch out your arms, legs and back slowly, like a cat and relax.

Optimistic October
