Headteacher Message

Happy bank holiday weekend everyone.

Please bear with me as I take this week's register.

‘4 ducklings?’  Yes

‘Blue the dog?’  Yes

‘Frank the dog?’ Yes

‘2 fully grown sheep?’ Yes

‘2 very cute lambs?’ Yes

‘3 lively goats?’ Yes

It has been fantastic to have so many animals on site this week.  Learning is undeniably about books, writing and calculations etc. but it is so much more.  It has been incredible to see how our children have enjoyed spending time with and learning about the animals we share this earth with.  Last week you heard about ducklings, and yesterday I was lucky enough to have a visitor at my desk!

Today we have had both school dogs and a mobile farm on site.  It has been so lovely to see our children interact with these animals.  We have to extend a big thanks to one of our parents and governors, Felicia, whose day job is as a vet.  She played a pivotal role in this visit, finding funding and organising the event.

It has been a joyous and extremely busy Friday, so I am going to sign off here.  OK, that may be a bit of an excuse. It is actually my turn to visit the farm animals, and I am not missing out on this opportunity!

Have a lovely extended weekend and see you all on Tuesday.

Stay safe.

Office Updates

Medication Update

Antibiotics will only be administered in school if the prescription is for four daily doses.

We are only able to accept prescribed medicines that are in-date, labelled, provided in the original container as dispensed by a pharmacist and include instructions for administration, dosage and storage.

We are unable to administer over the counter medications.

If your child requires over the counter medication during the school day, you will be required to come into school and administer it yourself.

The Reading Corner

Welcome to our weekly section of the newsletter all about reading. Every week, we will share a question (or two) with you about the book your child is reading in school. Please use these questions to help you find out a little more about what your child has been reading in school and continue to develop their love of reading.

Wonder - How much can you remember about frogs? What happens when they change from tadpoles to frogs? Why are they good swimmers? How do they eat? Where do they live? How do they protect themselves?

Peake - What did you imagine when you heard the poem 'The Wicked Witch's Song' by Claire Bevan. Were there any memorable words or phrases that stood out to you?

Weir - What lives in the dark, dense forest and what is it like there?

Thunberg - What do you think made Granny Regurgita gasp? What do you predict will happen next?

Darwin - If you were Emma in the 'Hard Times Jar' book, would you have taken the books home from school?

Attenborough - What did we find out about the Release Mandela campaign?

Parks - ‘The Final Year’ by Matt Goodfellow – Do you enjoy this book? Why/why not?

Truly epic! Yesterday, was the first concert of the newly formed Darell School rock band. Here is a clip of our lead guitarist limbering up. We would like to thank Rock Bandz for unleashing the talent that is within. Rock on! https://t.co/RYG3Soaa1j
