Headteacher Message

Hello all,

What a lovely start to the term.  I have just come back from Year 1 and came across them tidying up their classroom.  I asked if I could sit on their very comfy sofa and was surrounded by the loveliest bunch of children that you could hope to come across.  We basically just chatted for a few minutes.  What was so lovely, was the way they spoke to each other, listened and responded.  I can honestly say it is the happiest I have been in school this week.  Not because I have been unhappy but because it made me very happy indeed.  Nearly tied myself up in knots there! I wrote that at 2.15pm this afternoon and now am back at my desk at 3.40pm.  I am telling you this because I have just spent 20 minutes reading through the most incredible piece of writing from a Year 6 child that I have ever come across. Spellbinding!  I cannot do it justice explaining it but really want to share it with a wider audience. Hopefully, I can share it with you soon.  Such a lovely way to start the year.

Every one of your children will have been greeted with the following poster as they entered school this week;

We are very proud to be a UN rights Respecting school. I am really keen for us to be living these rights on a daily basis.  I introduced this in assemblies last term and again spoke about it this week.  It sounds simplistic but is actually extremely important.  I met with two children today and at the end of the conversation actually asked them if they felt they had been listened to and taken seriously.  Luckily, they said they had.  This is not an initiative that is introduced and then fades into the background.  It is already an underpinning facet of how we interact with your children.  I just need to ensure I apply this at home!!

The weather looks a bit wild this weekend, so put on your warmest clothes and have a cosy, relaxing weekend with your wonderful children.
