Headteacher Message

Hello all,

A lot to be happy about this week. Firstly, I would like to celebrate a member of staff that many of you will know. Jocelyn Francis, our nurture lead. Now, I could simply thank her for the incredible support she has given to so many of our children. But there is more. Yesterday, I was on a movement break and I wandered out into the KS2 playground. I came across this scene.

This is Joss leading training for the Year 5 and 6 netball training sessions. Quite often, at the end of the day, I am exhausted, but not our Joss. I did ask her the other day why she did this. She said that her daughter had attended Darell School years ago and had been given the opportunity to be in the netball team, and she was still playing into adulthood. She wants other children to be given this opportunity. That is special. And, I have to tell you, less than 14 hours later (this morning) she was over at North Sheen Rec before school, leading a running club. Thank you Joss, just one example of this team's selfless staff. We are very lucky to have you all.

Our second celebration this week is you. It was census day yesterday and this is a pivotal day for us. A large proportion of our funding is defined by the number of children we have in school on this day. Well, I can tell you we only had one. Yes, one child was absent yesterday. Thank you all for your support with this, it really makes a difference. Attendance has dropped today, so let's get back on it next week and have everyone in.

I also want to celebrate our family support team and give you a sneak preview of a workshop that is going to be offered to you all. I really like the way this has been framed. See below.

I currently go home to three lovely teenagers and a demanding dog and this training really appeals to me. I like its positive intent and will ensure that we publicise it widely so we can all attend!!

Last but not least, I want to celebrate the parents' association. Over the last two years they have raised a lot of money for the school. We are going to be detailing where it has been and will be spent next week, but I wanted to give you a little example today. I have not told them yet, but every class teacher is to be given £100 pounds to spend on their classrooms. Cushions, books, stickers, whatever takes their fancy and will benefit your children. Without your donations at events, this would not be possible, so thank you all.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend with your families and look forward to seeing everyone next week.

Moving up to secondary school in September

Applications for September 2027 start

Children who were born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 are eligible to begin Year 7 at a secondary school in September 2027.

Applications open on Tuesday 1 September 2026 and close at 11:59pm on Saturday 31 October 2026.

You must apply through the local authority which is responsible for administering the council tax for your home, even if you intend to name a school located in another area.

If you are applying for children of a multiple birth, a separate application is required for each child.

You do not need to complete an application if your child has an education, health and care plan (EHCP). Instead contact your assessment coordinator to discuss your child’s school placement.

For a summary of the admission arrangements for all state-funded schools in the borough, please refer to the relevant school brochures provided below. Each brochure includes a link to the respective school's website, where the complete admission arrangements are published. It is your responsibility to read these arrangements thoroughly before submitting an application to understand the allocation process.

In your application, inform us if your child will have a sibling attending your preferred school(s) in September 2027. This will allow the school to apply the correct priority.

National Offer Day is on Monday 1 March 2027. You will receive your outcome via email which the eAdmissions system sends in batches after 5 pm. If you applied online, you can also log in to your eAdmissions account after 5 pm to view your outcome and submit your response.
