Headteacher Message
Hello all,
I hope you are well. The staff team here have been monitoring a multitude of weather apps this week in preparation for sports day. There has been heavy rain, light rain, thunder, lightning, clouds, and no clouds depending on the app and time of day. A typical British summer's day really! I have just returned from the EYFS and Key Stage 1 sports day and I can report that the rain held off, and it was lovely. I always love following our youngest teams around the carousel of events. Their sense of wonderment and enjoyment is unparalleled. Nursery were absolutely smashing the throwing and over and under events, and they were having a great time doing so. I have to say very well done to Scarlet Prentice and Laura Cook, who are leading on Physical Education this year and are new to the position. No disrespect to the older members of staff like myself, but it is so lovely to have our younger staff showing their whole school leadership skills. There was a lot to deal with. The council guy, who had been booked for months, was off sick yesterday, and we were at the park at 7.30am as he turned up with all his paint and materials. Apologies for any very fresh paint on shoes or clothes this evening!
What I like and is embodied in all our staff is that they will reflect on the event, celebrate what went well and then think about how to make it even better next year. That is pretty much how we run the school. Celebrate what is good and look for what we can improve. It is at this time of year that we look at our school development plan from the year, review and look towards the new academic year. You actively help us with the process and I would like to thank the many of you who have completed the parent questionnaire. At the current count, we have had 56 completed questionnaires, which is an improvement on the 40 we received this time last year. Please, if you haven't had a go. I have been talking about reflection and, on reflection, we have not fed back to you enough about the results of these surveys. I will be providing a summary initially to governors and then to you before the end of term. I have just heard that, once again, the staff team have lost the tug of war, which on reflection, is no surprise at all!
Have a lovely rest of the week.
