Headteacher Message

Hello all,

A short newsletter from me today as I am off to have a steroid injection in my knee!  I hope to see a number of you at the May Fair on Richmond Green tomorrow. Please come and visit for a chat and some refreshments. Thank you to our wonderful PSA for organising the stall. A lot of work goes into this, and I know the WhatsApp group has been very busy in the lead up to this event.  Before I go I have to share this amazing piece of writing I came across in Year 3.

I mean it is a bit gory in places but superbly well written and presented. Just think what their writing will be like in Year 6 and beyond!

I hope to see some of you over the weekend. Have a good one.

Joe Porter

Thank you!

The Reading Corner

Welcome to our weekly section of the newsletter all about reading. Every week, we will share a question (or two) with you about the book your child is reading in school. Please use these questions to help you find out a little more about what your child has been reading in school and continue to develop their love of reading.

Reception - How is Tad different to her brothers and sisters? (she is the smallest in the whole wide pond) Why does Big Blub never catch her? (because she is strong and clever, knows all the best hiding places and she swam up)

Year 1 – In Animal Atlas it says, '...It can reach the leaves in the trees with it's very long neck?' Which animal is it describing? Why does it need to reach the leaves? What do scientists call animals that only eat plants? (herbivores) What do other animals eat? (meat - carnivores, meat and plants - omnivores)

Year 2 - Do you think there will be any foxes on the island? Why? Why not? (RE The Antlered Ship)

Year 3 - Did you enjoy the poem 'The Dancer' by Karl Nova? Why? Why not?

Year 4 -  Do you prefer to read fiction, non-fiction or a mixture?

Year 5 -  ‘Journey to Jo’burg’ -  What shocked you about Grace’s story of her brother’s experience at the protest?

Year 6 - Which character do you find the most interesting one in Clockwork?

SRP 2 - If you could design a new friend for the Lonely Beast, what would it look like?

Attendance
