Headteacher Message

Another packed week in school this week. We have had another open morning, sporting fixtures, and finished today with a PSA meeting. This week has been national anti-bullying week, and the children have been taking part in assemblies about this theme. The focus this year is Power for Good. We have been talking about how everyone can make a difference to someone else for the better, and we have been taking this out into our playgrounds to ensure our playtimes are as positive as possible. Playground stars have been introduced – children are spotted being kind and positive in the playground. Their name goes in a special book, and they go into the raffle for a special playtime at North Sheen Rec. This afternoon in the celebration assembly, the first group was chosen.

The school have also been thinking about how to use our power for good, and we have an event next week to show our love and support for the Fisher family.

There is also an opportunity for you to use your power for good, if you have the time and skills. We have a parent governor vacancy with details on the flyer below.

Finally, we look forward to welcoming you into school next week for parent consultations. Until then, have a restful weekend and stay dry.

The Reading Corner

Welcome to our weekly section of the newsletter all about reading. Every week, we will share a question (or two) with you about the book your child is reading in school. Please use these questions to help you find out a little more about what your child has been reading in school and continue to develop their love of reading.

Reception - In our story, 'Pumpkin Soup,' who lives in the 'old white cabin'? What jobs do they each do to prepare the pumpkin soup? What can they do to be 'better friends'?

Year 1 – How do you think the Everywhere Bear felt when it was lost? Do you think the bear's feelings had changed by the end of the story? What makes you think this?

Year 2 - Why do you think Mia and Ben swapped planes when they were saying goodbye?

Year 3 - What do you predict will happen next in Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet? Why?

Year 4 – Have these 3 folktales got anything in common? What are they?

Year 5 -  ‘Treason’ – What impression do you get of Aunt Carew and why? What sort of personality does she have and what are her beliefs and priorities?

Year 6 - What do we know about Sukie so far? Where could she be? What do you think is the map about that Olive found in her room?

SRP 2 - – What does squirrel do to try and relax and what other things could he try?
