Headteacher Message

Welcome back all,

I quite like these midweek starts as it allows us all to calibrate before going into a full week on Monday. Bedtimes, clothing, lunches, pick up, drop off, new teachers, new playground, new new! There is a lot that needs to be organised on your side and also on ours. Do not forget the majority of the staff team have their own children and will be experiencing bits of what you are experiencing. With three teenagers and now one in sixth form I am finding it hard to work out who is where when! Unfortunately, I now have had the added difficulty of a knee injury that has hampered my family usefulness! It has, however, been lovely to see your children return and feel the warmth with which they have been received. At the moment everyone I have spoken to is very happy with their new adults and the atmosphere in the school has been very positive.

You may remember that last year we placed a lot of focus on the word and the virtue of kindness. It was a resounding success and this year we have chosen a different key word. I revealed this to our children on Wednesday and I am going to share with you today. The word is ambition

This does not mean we will not be focussing on kindness as kindness informs all of our practice. With our focus on ambition we want to show your children that with effort and focus they can achieve great things and that their actions will ultimately get them to where they want to be. I will keep you updated on how we promote this virtue across the school and within our community.

I would really like you to introduce you to some new members of staff. We are extremely happy with these appointments and they have fitted seamlessly into the staff team.  It has also been nice for me to hear from them how welcomed they feel they have been.

Pictures, names of staff and year group they are currently working in below.

I always like to start the year by reminding you that we really want to work in partnership with you. Please come in and talk to us if you have any concerns or in fact want to highlight some positives. If you find it difficult please phone or email. We now have the added bonus of our family support team and I know that they are organising a drop in session at the end of this month.

Have a lovely weekend with your families. We look forward to seeing you on Monday - bright eyed and sparkly!

Office Updates

Toys in school

We are very understanding of the fact that transition objects are useful in the first few days of the new school year, we would just like to remind families that, if children bring these into school, they need to stay in the child's bag. This is to ensure that they do not get lost or broken. Ideally, these objects would not come into school on a regular basis.

Concentration Aids

If you child benefits from a concentration aid in class contact Amanda Blunden who will arrange this with you.

Card Club

On Fridays we run card club, which is very popular, and gives children the opportunity to play and share their cards e.g. Pokemon, Match Attax. Uno, Top Trumps

   School Meal Ordering Via Arbor

Arbor has made the process of pre-ordering lunch options simple and convenient:

  • You can select your child's meal choices in advance, including packed lunches.

  • You can change these options up to 2 days before the meals are prepared.

  • You can view your child's daily meal selections on the portal.

To do this, please log in to your Arbor account, click on the orange "Quick Actions" tab in the top left corner, then select "Meals" and "Autumn 1 Meal Choices." By clicking on the dropdown arrow, you will see a list of meal options, including the choice of a packed lunch. Please select your choice for the requested days.

Darell Food Bank

We are reaching out to share an initiative at Darell aimed at supporting our families during these financially challenging times. We have established a food bank within the school and would greatly appreciate any contributions.

Your donations can make a  difference in the lives of those in our community. We welcome contributions of non-perishable food items and personal care products. Every little bit helps and goes a long way in providing essential support to our families.

Please feel free to drop off your donations at the school office.

Thank you for your generosity!
