Headteacher Message

Dear all

I hope you are well. In the famous words of the Merrymen, it is hot, hot, hot. Your children have been excellent and have adapted to this weather. We have asked for no ball games or running around, and it has been lovely to walk around the playground chatting to groups of children sitting in the shade.  Unfortunately, I missed the barbecue on Wednesday as I had to work from home because my daughter is unwell. She is currently suffering from high levels of anxiety, and it is a really difficult time for her and our family. The reason I am telling you this is that it is really important to ask for and accept help. As a family, we have been working with CAHMS and the NHS to try and support her.

As a school, we are really pleased that we now have another source of support for you and your children. We now have Belinda, our family support worker, who is working at Darell, East Sheen and Kew Riverside schools for a total of three days a week. She is part of a family support project that is running across six schools in the borough.

This is an incredible resource to have, and Belinda is really lovely.  It is important to recognise that there is limited capacity for direct casework as we share Belinda with Kew Riverside and East Sheen School. However, we are hoping that the family support team can offer advice and signpost to existing support services. We have really high hopes for this project, and it is your participation that will ensure the success of the service.

Have a lovely scorching weekend with your families.

Love Darell? Let others know!

If you've had a great experience with the school, we'd be so grateful if you could take a moment to leave a 5-star review. It helps other local families discover our warm, caring, and creative community.

Office Updates

End of Term early finish | Holy Trinity Catholic School

On Friday, 18th July, we will finish school at 1:15 PM. Please collect your child from their usual collection point in either the KS1 or KS2 playground.

If your child is in Years 5 and 6 and will be walking home alone, and does not yet have permission, you will need to grant permission for this in Arbor. You can do so by logging into your Arbor parent portal or by contacting the school office to inform us. Thank you!

Bikes & Scooters

As we approach the end of the school year, we kindly ask that all scooters and bikes belonging to the children be taken home before the summer break. This is to ensure that the scooter and bike parking areas are kept clear and well-managed during the holiday period and ready for use in the new term.

The Reading Corner

Welcome to our weekly section of the newsletter all about reading. Every week, we will share a question (or two) with you about the book your child is reading in school. Please use these questions to help you find out a little more about what your child has been reading in school and continue to develop their love of reading.

Reception - What does Stanley pretend his straight stick is? And what does he pretend his wonky stick is? What would you pretend a stick is?

(straight stick: whistle, straight banana, match, dinosaur, rocket spoon, for writing, for picking up slugs on the pavement, fishing rod; wonky stick: saxophone, telescope, mast)?

Year 1 - If you could go on a journey down a river in a little silver boat, where would you like to visit? Explain why.

Year 2 - What is your favourite book that we have read this year in school? Why?

Year 3 - If you could choose any book to add to the Year 3 book corner, what would it be and why?

Year 4 - What can you remember about the story of Toto the Ninja Cat?

Year 5 - Which book did you enjoy reading the most in Year 5? Which genre would you like to read more of in the future?

Year 6 - Which book have you enjoyed most this year? Are there any you would read again? Have you discovered a new favourite author?
