Headteacher Message

Hello all,

I have just returned to my desk, as I have been completing a nursery tour with prospective parents. I mention this because they said something I would like to share. The husband said he could not believe how polite and helpful all of the children that we came across were. I have to admit I also noticed this, and that is because when walking on your own, it is sometimes something you take for granted. It was through these new eyes that I could once again appreciate how lovely your children are. Every door was held open, everybody said hello, and every child we came across was pleased to see us.  It was so good that the family stayed and signed up for nursery on the spot!

It is that time of year when reports are being collated to send out to you all. It is time consuming but it is also very satisfying. I write a comment for every child and that is because I know every child and have been lucky enough to interact with them this year. There are disadvantages and advantages to being a one form entry school but for me the ability to get to know everyone is a real strength of our school.  With that I wish every single one of you and your children a lovely weekend. Two weeks to go to the end of term. A very early reminder that we are finishing at 1.15pm on Friday, 18th July - the last day of term.

Office Updates

End of Term early finish | Holy Trinity Catholic School

On Friday, 18th July, we will finish school at 1:15 PM. Please collect your child from their usual collection point in either the KS1 or KS2 playground.

If your child is in Years 5 and 6 and will be walking home alone, and does not yet have permission, you will need to grant permission for this in Arbor. You can do so by logging into your Arbor parent portal or by contacting the school office to inform us. Thank you!

Bikes & Scooters

As we approach the end of the school year, we kindly ask that all scooters and bikes belonging to the children be taken home before the summer break. This is to ensure that the scooter and bike parking areas are kept clear and well-managed during the holiday period and ready for use in the new term.

The Reading Corner

Welcome to our weekly section of the newsletter all about reading. Every week, we will share a question (or two) with you about the book your child is reading in school. Please use these questions to help you find out a little more about what your child has been reading in school and continue to develop their love of reading.

Year 1 - Can you remember what the little girl saw in her imaginary journey along the river in her little silver boat from the city to the sea?

Year 2 - What can you recall about Floella’s true story, ‘Coming to England’?

Year 3 - If you could change anything about the final chapter of The Iron Man, what would it be and why?

Year 4 - If you were Lila and heading to Mount Merapi to find the Royal Sulphur, what 3 things would you take with you to survive your jungle adventure?

Year 5 - How did Julia Donaldson use The Highwayman as inspiration for her picture book The Highway Rat?

Year 6 - Now that you have become very familiar with this play script, what do you notice is different from a fictional story written as a novel? Would you consider reading other pay scripts for your own interest? (Maybe you could try Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?)

Attendance

Overall, school attendance this week was 94%. Our target is 97%.

Well done to Year 2 for the highest attendance of 96% this week.
