Headteacher Message

As I write this on a sunny Friday, the office is full of our book club members, chatting and typing about the book we’ve been reading together; Grumpfort by Jamie Hammond. We have been asked by Kew BookShop to read and review this book before its publication date. Hot off the press these reviews will be sent to Kew BookShop today, so do look out for them in their shop window.

We are also very excited to be welcoming Jamie Hammond, the author of Grumpfort, to Darell next week as part of our book week celebrations. Needless to say, these book club meetings have been the highlight of my week - reading with enjoyment and having exciting discussions about what we think will happen next with children fills me with complete joy. I am very much looking forward to next week and all the exciting activities we have planned to celebrate the power of books.

Here is an outline of the events next week:

This morning we also had the school full of our wonderful community. We had a group of our governors working together on their committee meetings and we had our PSA who were busy arranging the exciting events coming up this term. Next week they are running our Kindness Carnival. Tickets and information are coming with this newsletter so please look out for it, and if you’re able, please show your support.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and I do hope the sun shines. For those of our families for whom Ramadan is starting” Ramadan Mubarak”

Purchase your tickets from the school office.

Please use these questions to help you find out a little more about what your child has been reading in school and continue to develop their love of reading.

Reception - In this week's story, The Great Explorer, where does Tom need to go to look for his dad? (The North Pole) What different adventures happened to Tom on the way there?
