Headteacher Message

Hello all,

I hope you are well. Sometimes, I go on about how busy the week has been, but this week has been busy. On Monday, we made sure that we turned up for a whole school attendance meeting with the local authority. On Tuesday, we had a borough led review of the teaching of maths across the school.  Interspersed with this were two very productive governor meetings, a headteachers briefing, and meetings with two Headteachers in the borough. Amazingly, I am energised by the whole week and am looking forward to driving school improvement as we continue the term.  What I like about this school and its staff is that we are aware that we don’t always get it right and actively seek out voices that offer different perspectives and approaches.  Your voices are really important in the process, and we will be sending out a parent questionnaire after half term.  The thinking is that the days will be longer and warmer and you will feel positive about the school. I jest. We really want to hear what you feel we are doing well, what areas we can improve, and how you can help us on this journey. More than ever, I need you to be active advocates of this school in the community, and there is no way you can do this if you are not happy about what is happening here. I want to return to my family now so I will finish here.  Have a lovely weekend with your families and see you on Monday.

Meal Options - Via Arbor

You can now select your meal options for after the February half-term through the Arbor parent portal.

To do this, please log in to your Arbor account. Click on the orange "Quick Actions" tab in the top left corner, then select "Meals" and "Spring." By clicking on the dropdown arrow, you will see a list of meal options, including the choice for a packed lunch. Please make your selections for the requested days.

We kindly ask that you complete the meal choices even if your child is having a packed lunch.

Tissue Donations

It is that time of year where tissues are in high demand! If you are able to donate a box this would br greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lost Property

Our lost property trolley is overflowing with items. If you are missing anything, please check the trolley located at the front office reception. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to store lost property, so any uncollected items will be donated to local charity shops. Please make sure to collect your items by Monday, 3rd February. The Reading Corner

Welcome to our weekly section of the newsletter all about reading. Every week, we will share a question (or two) with you about the book your child is reading in school. Please use these questions to help you find out a little more about what your child has been reading in school and continue to develop their love of reading.

Reception - In our book, Barbara Throws a Wobbler, what makes Barbara feel upset at the start of the story? (her socks don't match, there is a strange pea on her plate at lunchtime, she steps on the cracks in the pavement).  What happens next that makes her feel angry? (she drops her ice cream). What does she do with her angry feelings? (squashes them down) What helps her feel okay again? (she makes the wobbler go away, she talks to her friends, she has cuddles, a lick of ice cream and plays in the park).

Year 1 - Was there anything you liked about the story The Pet Potato? Was there anything you disliked? If you had written the book, how would you have made it better?

Year 2 - Did you like our class book The Great Fire of London? Why/Why not?

KS1 SRP - How do we feel when we share with our friends?

KS2 SRP -  What are your special talents and skills?

Year 3 - If you could ask Mary Anning three questions, what would they be and why?

Year 4 - What would you do if you were washed up on a deserted island like the wild robot?

Year 5 - Do you think the girls can trust Prince Miro?

Year 6 - ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ by CS Lewis – What do you predict will happen next in the story? What will Edmund’s role be?
