Headteacher Message

Hello all,

This week has been a showcase of our school’s sporting spirit, with fantastic performances from our football, netball, and cross-country teams. What a joy it has been to hear about  their enthusiasm, teamwork, and determination on the court, field, and trail!

All the teams have been practicing and building towards these events. I have been particularly impressed with the cross country team who have turned up in numbers at the North Sheen Rec before school and been put through their paces by Laura. Rain, wind and some shine!

Both our netball and football teams showed great humility and team spirit in defeat and I am proud of every single one of them. Our football team were comprehensively beaten by King’s School but not one of them gave up or turned against each other or the opposition. I have talked about how representative and team sport has greatly enhanced my life and it is a love of team sport that I want the children to take from these experiences.

As I write, our cross-country team is running around the lovely Bushy Park and early reports are that they are doing very well. My daughter is one of the marshalls, and I have given her strict instructions to encourage our team around the course. This week I am extremely proud  that every one of our little representatives has demonstrated what it means to be part of a community that values effort and respect above all.

A very special thanks must go to Laura, Joss, and Kelly, whose incredible support and commitment have been instrumental in making these events such a success. Their efforts, whether in coaching, organising, or encouraging, have truly made a difference. We are so grateful for the time and energy you have dedicated to our teams.

We will continue to cheer for all our students, not only for their results but also for their willingness to take part and give their best. Together, we have created a school community that thrives on mutual support, shared joy, and growth. Long may it continue.

Have a great weekend.

Joe Porter

Office Updates

New Meal Ordering System

We are implementing a new school meal ordering system requiring immediate attention. This system will use a Google Form designed to simplify the process of ordering meals for your children on a three weekly basis. If your child has a packed lunch every day or a few days a week, you are still required to complete the form.
Here's what you need to do:

  • Access the Form: Follow the link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf9LGgyMAyFNuArea1Ol26DW1dDZT1ASiwAcZyCilVAqJinug/viewform?usp=sf_link
  • Complete the Form Fill in all required details, including your child's name, class, and meal preferences. Accurate information is crucial to avoid any complications with your order.
  • Submit by Deadline: You must submit your meal orders by Thursday, 28th November.

It is essential all parents/carers use this new system to ensure a smooth and efficient meal ordering process. If you have questions or need assistance, contact the school office.

The Reading Corner

Welcome to our weekly section of the newsletter all about reading. Every week, we will share a question (or two) with you about the book your child is reading in school. Please use these questions to help you find out a little more about what your child has been reading in school and continue to develop their love of reading.

Wonder - In 'The Tree,' which animals live in the tree, and why do the 'new arrivals' have to change their 'wonderful plan'? (Because they would have to chop the tree down to build their house and that would destroy the animals' homes)

Peake - If you could store things in your hair like Billy, what would you choose to put there? Explain why.

Weir - What clever tricks might the enormous crocodile try next to catch his favourite dinner?

Walker - How do you feel when your friends share with you?

Newton - Why do you think the evil Stepmother wanted to kill Snow White?

Thunberg - Would you like a nana like Bad Nana? Why? Why not?

Darwin - In ‘Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters’, why do you think Nyasha is a happier person than Manyara?

Attenborough - Do you think Aunt Carew is good news or bad news? How will her arrival change the children’s lives?

Parks -  ‘Street Child’ – Do you think Jim was right to try to escape from Grimy Nick? Would you have dared to escape? What would worry you? What plan would you have come up with?
