Headteacher Message

Hello all,

We have overcome the gloomy skies and had a lovely return to school. One of the advantages of being a smaller school is that I have had interaction with nearly all the children in the school in these last 4 days.  I don't know if it is our year long focus on kindness, but a number of your children in conversation have asked how I am.  I think it is great that they are learning to communicate in this way and engaging in a two way conversation. As ever, they are a credit to you.  I have talked about our collaboration with Roehampton University and the work we are doing to improve North Sheen Rec.  I received the following from one of the three senior lecturers at the university.

This write up is shared with all of the universities partner schools and I am really proud of this collaboration and the fantastic work that our Year 5 have produced.

I really hope the sun makes an appearance over the weekend.  Have a good one.

Joe Porter

The Reading Corner

Welcome to our weekly section of the newsletter all about reading. Every week, we will share a question (or two) with you about the book your child is reading in school. Please use these questions to help you find out a little more about what your child has been reading in school and continue to develop their love of reading.

Wonder - Who lives in the 'old white cabin'? What jobs do they each do to prepare the pumpkin soup? What can they do to be 'better friends'?

Peake - Can you remember some of the places Leaf Man went on his journey? Can you remember some of the things he saw?

Weir - What is a hypothesis, and how does Ada Twist make them?

Walker - Can you remember the makaton sign for fireworks?

Newton - Can you predict what will happen in our story Snow White in New York?

Thunberg - What do the items in Bad Nana's bag tell us about her character?

Darwin - : If you could drink a potion that made one wish come true, what would it be?

Attenborough - What tragic accident happens in Will’s family at the start of Treason? Do you think Will is responsible for it?

Parks - ‘Street Child’ – What is the relationship between Grimy Nick and Jim? What do you think will happen to Jim next? Why?
