Headteacher Message

Dear all,

What a week. While we lost our Year 6 to a four day residential trip to Walton Firs we gained approximately 100 trainee teachers. I will explain. This week,  students from Roehampton University came to see the teaching of maths across the school.  This took place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It was so nice to celebrate the excellence that exists at his school while at the same time supporting the next generation of teachers. We also had a group of geography specialist trainee primary teachers come into Year 5 to initiate a local area project related to North Sheen Recreation ground. They are at the start of an exciting project to improve our local open space.

The Year 6 residential trip has been an unmitigated success. The Tuesday morning goodbye was tough on the parents, but the children have flourished throughout. Large open spaces, team building activities, campfires and pizza on the last evening.  What more could you want? I have even heard that one evening they were all asleep by 9.30pm. A huge thank you to the staff team whose emotional intelligence, resilience and kindness have facilitated such a successful residential.

There is something about being out in the open air on a crisp Autumnal morning. I have experienced this way more since our family has had ‘Blue’ the dog. As we move towards half term consider using the wide open spaces we have around us for a family walk. Richmond Park is on our doorstep, and it is possible to forget you are in London when walking around this vast and beautiful open space.

Have a lovely half term break.  Be kind to yourself and your loved ones. Remember the first day back is an INSET, so children will return on Tuesday 5th of November.

Thunberg - What is your favourite fact about the moon?

Darwin - What similarities can you find between the Children of Lir story and Cinderella?
