Dolphin Class (Year 3)
Dolphin Class has had a fabulous time with their TRIBAL TALES topic. We have been learning about Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age and have rounded off our topic with a Design and Technology day, making accurate models of Iron Age roundhouses. We have thought carefully about the materials available at the time and the skills and tools in use. We have learnt how to weave and have used our sewing skills to secure the roofs. Afterwards, we evaluated our designs and discussed the challenges we had during the process and how we overcame them, thinking about the challenges Iron Age people must have faced.
Our science learning about rocks, soils and fossils has taken us to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington. We have explored different rocks and fossils up close, have experienced how the ground shakes in an earthquake and deepened our understanding of the rock cycle. We have been palaeontologists for the day and excavated a dinosaur fossil. We had to carefully measure the recovered piece in order to classify our find. Well done, Dolphin Class!
