History

Our history curriculum aims to inspire children’s curiosity to know more about the past and the process of change. We aim to help our children to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. We contemplate past societies and their beliefs and actions in order to develop children’s concept of time and provide them with a chronology of significant periods, people and events.
Our history curriculum is cross curricular and provides an opportunity to develop the children’s literacy skills. We aim to bring history alive with meaningful trips to historical buildings and museums. To deepen the children’s learning we provide an enquiry-based learning where children are encouraged to use artefacts and primary sources to carry out research, find evidence and form their own conclusions about the past.
