Admission to Darell Nursery
Our provision is for 3 and 4 year olds and children are admitted in September or January of each year. Priority is given to siblings of children in the school, and then proximity to the school.
The school keeps a waiting list of applicants for Nursery places and children’s names can be added from the age of 2 years. To apply, contact the school and leave your child’s details.
Applications must be received at the school office by Friday, 9 March 2018 for a place in September 2018. Offers of places will be made during early May 2018.
All successful applications for a place will then be sent the school’s admissions form which must be completed and returned, accompanied by a copy of your child’s birth certificate and proof of address; this should ideally be a council tax bill or a utility bill.
The Nursery is staffed by a qualified teacher and two early years educators.
Morning: 08.45 – 11.45
Afternoon: 12.30 – 15.30

At Darell Nursery we aim to:
- provide a learning environment that supports children to co-operate with others and to develop their sense of curiosity and independence
- treat each child as a unique individual and help them develop as a confident and capable learner
- provide a breadth of stimulating, engaging learning opportunities that support a rounded approach to each child’s development
- involve parents as partners in their child’s learning
Is my child ready for Nursery?
- Are they used to leaving you?
- Can they use the toilet by themselves?
- Are they learning to put on their jumpers, coats and shoes?
- Are they happy in the company of other children their age?
If you have any concerns about the above, you may:
- Contact your Health Visitor
- Speak to one of the Darell Nursery team
If you have questions about specific educational needs, please contact the school office and ask to speak to the Inclusion Manager
We strongly advise that your child has frequent visits to parks, playgrounds, the library and playgroups to help prepare them for nursery.
